„My Arms, Your Hearse” aduce o îmbunătăţire sesizabilă atât calităţii înregistrărilor, cât şi tehnicilor instrumentale şi vocale folosite, de-a lungul său.
„Prologue” te introduce uşor în braţele întunecimii transpuse de voce cedând insesizabil locul succesorului ei, „April Ethereal”, oferindu-ţi mici secţiuni de speranţă ilustrate de intervenţia clean-urilor lui Mikael, precum şi de obişnuita, dar mult aşteptata acustică.
Am preferat întotdeauna piesa următoare, „When”, de pe acest album fiindcă îţi desenează doar o schiţă a ceea ce va deveni unul dintre cele mai bune albume lansate de Opeth, „Deliverance”. Piesa are absolut tot ce ai aştepta de la o capodoperă: vocal antrenat, instrumental versatil, solo memorabil, schimbări de ritm subtile dar care pun sub semnul întrebării ceea ce poate urma, precum şi un frumos epilog construit cu grijă de atmosfera întreţinută de tobe. Ultimul minut al piesei oferă unul dintre cele mai frumoase momente acustice vreodată regăsit în discografia trupei, un final perfect gândit, un interval de timp efemer care se pierde în intro-ul lui „Madrigal”. Câteva astfel de momente se vor vârî şi în timpul piesei „The Amen Corner” şi „Epilogue”.
„Demon of the Fall”, continuarea ideii piesei „When”, deşi nu are acelaşi dinamism precum cea anterior menţionată, este o altă piesă de referinţă pentru Opeth.
Prima piesă instrumentală lansată de Opeth se regăseşte tot pe acest album cu greutate, şi anume sugestivul „Epilogue”. Akerfeldt cedează locul chitarei melancolice să vorbească în locul său, un alt final perfect gândit şi ales.
Comparativ cu primele două materiale discografice, „My Arms, Your Hearse” tinde să cuprindă o sferă mult mai emoţională iar asta se simte atât liric, cât şi instrumental. Primul material dintr-o serie nesfârşită de experimente diverse.
Muzica nu are limită pentru Opeth, iar asta vom dovedi de-a lungul întregii serii de cronici dedicate discografiei.

**English Version**
„My Arms, Your Hearse” is a clear improvement as for the quality, the instrumental and vocal techniques. „Prologue” gently abandons you in the arms of the dimness transposed in the vocals while artfully ceasing the torch to its succesor, „April Ethereal”, and offering you light segments of hope drawn by Mikael’s cleans, as well as by the well-known but dearly anticipated acoustic.
One of my personal favorites, „When”, paints a concise sketch of what will be one of the band’s best records, „Deliverance”. The track has absolutely everything you would expect from a masterpiece: driven vocals, versatile instrumentals, memorable solos, subtle changes in rhythm that leave you wondering and a beautiful epilogue carefully and gradually built by the atmospheric drumming. Its last minute brings with it one of the most splendid moments that you can find in Opeth’s discography, a perfectly thought of ending, a fleeting time interval that loses its power in „Madrigal”‘s intro. Some other highlights such as this one are inserted into tracks such as „The Amen Corner” and „Epilogue”.
„Demon of the Fall”, the continuance of „When”‘s idea, although lacks some of the dynamic previously mentioned, is another popular track from Opeth. The first instrumental piece that Opeth has released on this record, „Epilogue”, replaces Akerfeldt’s wistful vibe with the heart-wrenching guitar, creating another perfect ending.
Unlike the first two records, „My Arms, Your Hearse” reaches onto new levels of emotion lyrically and sonically. The music knows no boundaries for Opeth and that will be our conclusion at the end of this discographic journey.
