Primul album full length al proiectului inedit de prog rock suedez, Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side, te va trimite într-o călătorie în timp. Complet înmuiat în trecut, materialul nu inspiră neapărat influenţele trecutului ci pare pe cât de actual, pe atât de potrivit unei anumite perioade din evoluţia prog-ului. „Pathfinder” conţine opt piese şi urmează unui EP, intitulat „The Other Side„, lansat în 2013.
Albumul debutează cu „Square One”, o piesă care–ţi va aminti de o combinaţie între Utopia şi Spock’s Beard, care nu duce lipsă de niciun element specific: clape elaborate, clădiri de momente ritmice şi voci versatile.
Urma de întuneric care zăboveşte asupra „Lost” este susţinută într-un mod complementar de instrumentalul atipic, pe când piese precum „Peace of mind” pun în lumina reflectorului clapele şi o lirică care pe alocuri aminteşte de Marillion, completate de vocea feminină.
„Pathfinder” aduce din nou în prim plan versatila voce masculină, pe valurile de schimbări de ritm antrenate de toboşar, iar „Leaving The World Behind” poposeşte într-o arie acustică şi este continuată de unul dintre cele mai complexe intro–uri pe „On The Horizon”. Trupa a încercat să meargă pe un prog rock influenţat puternic de heavy rock pe acest album, iar instrumentalul „Zenith” este dovada clară pentru acest lucru. Solo-urile pline de groove jazz şi efectele susţinătoare ale clapelor reprezintă cea mai evidentă legătură cu prezentul.
Materialul se încheie cu „Closer To The Sun„, o piesă care reuneşte cumva toate elementele regăsite pe celelalte piese.

The first full length material belonging to the Swedish prog rock project, Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side, will send you on a cruise to the past. Completely melted into the past, the record doesn’t really bring back the influences of the past but rather seems like it belongs to another era. „Pathfinder” contains eight tracks and is the follow up to the EP „The Other Side”, released in 2013.
The record starts off with „Square One”, a track that will remind you of a perfect combination between Utopia and Spock’s Beard, that doesn’t lack any of the specifics of the genre: intricate keyboards, building the top moments and playful vocals.
The shadow that lingers over „Lost” is backed up in a beautiful way by the atypical instrumental, while songs such as „Peace of mind” passes the spotlight on to the keyboards and to the lyrics, that sometimes reminds me of Marillion, overall completed by the female vocals.
„Pathfinder” brings back to the front the talented male vocals, alongside waves of rhythm changes showcased by their drummer. „Leaving The World Behind” makes a stop into an acoustic territory and is continued by one of the most intricate intros on the record, on „On The Horizon”. The band tried to approach a heavier prog rock for this record, and the instrumental piece „Zenith” is the clear evidence to back up the decision. The guitar, filled up with groove and jazzy influences and the complementary keyboard effects that intertwine with it is the definite connection with the present.
The material ends with „Closer To The Sun”, a song that somehow manages to reunite all the elements found on the other tracks.
