Dreamborn este o nouă trupă care îmbină influenţe felurite din sfera metal-ului din Croaţia. Trupa are planuri măreţe pentru viitor, primul dintre ele fiind lansarea unui full length, aşa cum este firesc. „Seven Deadly Sins” a fost tradus şi în trei piese folosite drept teaser în online, ele evidenţiind diversul care defineşte trupa. Am stat de vorbă cu Dreamborn, albumul fiind lansat oficial chiar în aceste zile.
Sunteţi pe cale să lansaţi un nou album. Care sunt punctele forte a “Seven Deadly Sins”?
Dreamborn: Albumul este o combinaţie distractivă de melodic şi heavy metal, cu elemente de simfonic şi power. Am spune că punctele forţe sunt ritmul catchy, părţile vocale molipsitoare pe care le vei cânta şi tu mai târziu pe zi (sau noapte – nu judecăm) şi faptul că fiecare piesă are ceva diferit pe care nu îl vei auzi şi pe celelalte.
Aţi decis să lansaţi câteva single-uri în avans şi să le folosiţi ca teaser. A ajutat asta la promovarea sa? Cum le-aţi ales?
Dreamborn: Din moment ce suntem o trupă nouă lansarea a trei piese de pe album a dat şansa oamenilor să audă spre ce sunet ţintim şi ce să aştepte de la noi. Pentru că mulţi oameni au început să ne urmărească şi am primit multe întrebări legate de noul album. Am ales aceste trei piese de pe album fiindcă sunt diferite, astfel încât ascultătorii îşi pot face o idee despre scopul creativităţii şi sunetului nostru. Piesa “Seven Deadly Sins” a fost uşor de ales pentru că dă numele albumului şi are un ritm rapid, “Dead Silence” este o piesă mai lentă cu un accent mai dur, iar “Life” este o baladă.
Care este povestea din spatele artwork-ului?
Dreamborn: A fost făcut de All Things Rotten, un artist talentat care a lucrat cu trupe precum Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Nocturnal Breed, Pain, Edguy şi altele. Pentru coperta albumului am vrut o imagine care să include cât mai multe detalii din lirică. Deci, de exemplu, creatură aproape umană cu aripi este legată de “Seven Deadly Sins”, lupii de piesa “Violent Scream”, tronul de “Seed of Destruction”, craniul de “Dead Silence” şi aşa mai departe. All Things Rotten a făcut o treabă grozavă.
Cum este scena metal croată comparată cu cea europeană de vest?
Dreamborn: Scena aici este aproape inexistentă, din păcate. Sunt trupe bune de metal în ţara noastră, dar mediul nu este prietenos cu acest gen de muzică. Este greu să găseşti cluburi care să accepte trupe de metal şi mai greu să găseşti unele care să te plătească să cânţi (sau măcar să acopere costurile de transport). Radio-urile locale şi naţionale rar acceptă piese metal şi nu găseşti nimic de acest gen la TV. Totuşi, sperăm că va fi cândva. Cine ştie.
Vă gândiţi la un turneu în afara ţării?
Dreamborn: Da, avem planuri dar cum fiecare avem alte locuri de muncă ne va lua ceva timp să ne coordonăm şi să devină realitate. Cu toţii iubim să fim pe scenă, să cântăm şi să cunoaştem oameni noi din toată lumea deci un turneu oficial ţine doar de timp.

You are just about to launch a new record. Tell me what do you think are the highlights of Seven Deadly Sins?
Dreamborn: The album „Seven Deadly Sins” is a fun combination of melodic metal and heavy, power and symphonic elements. I would say the highlights of the album are its catchy tunes, fun vocal parts you find yourself singing later on during the day (or night – we don’t judge) and the fact that every song has something different you haven’t heard yet in our other songs.
You decided to release some singles of it in advance and use them as teasers. Did that help with the promotion? How did you choose the singles to be released before hand?
Dreamborn: Since we are a new band releasing three songs from the album before its official release date gave people the opportunity to hear what we sound like and what to expect from our other songs. Because of that a lot of people started following us and we also got a lot of questions about where the whole album can be bought.
We chose three songs from the album that are as different from each other as possible so listeners can get the whole scope of our creativity and our sound. The song „Seven Deadly Sins” was a no brainer since the album was named after it and it also has a fast pace, „Dead Silence” is more of a slower song with a more heavier tone, and the song „Life” is a metal ballad.
What is the story behind the artwork?
Dreamborn: Our album artwork was made by All Things Rotten, a really talented artist that worked for bands like Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Nocturnal Breed, Pain, Edguy and many other great bands. For the CD Cover art we wanted a picture that would include as many details from our lyrics as possible. So, for example, the man-like creature with wings is from the song Seven Deadly Sins, the wolves are from the song Violent Scream, the throne from the song Seed of destruction, the skull from Dead Silence etc. All Things Rotten did an amazing job of bringing our imagination to life.
How is the Croatian metal scene compared to how the western European scene looks like?
Dreamborn: Well, the metal scene in Croatia is unfortunately almost non existing. There are still good metal bands in our country but the music environment is not too friendly to metal music. It’s hard to find venues that accept metal bands and even harder to find ones that would pay you to perform (at least to cover travel costs). Local and national radio stations rarely accept metal songs for airplay and you can’t find any signs of metal on TV. However, there is still hope it will be better some day. Who knows.
Are you thinking of a tour outside the country?
Dreamborn: Yes, we have plans to tour outside our country but since all four of us have regular jobs besides Dreamborn it will take us some time to coordinate it all and to make it a reality. We all love being on stage, playing our music and meeting new people from all around the world so an official tour is just a matter of time.
