The FullBug este o trupă de hard rock din Tel Aviv, pornind inițial cu rădăcini de punk rock. În 2017, sub numele de Project Revival, trupa a lansat albumul de debut Heavy Gravy, urmând ca din cauza unor schimbări de componență să își rescrie parcursul sub noua înfățișare, The Fullbug. Primul EP sub această denumire a fost lansat anul acesta și poartă numele de Black Hole Syndrome. Despre el și scena din Israel, vorbim cu The Fullbug.
De ce ați ales să lansați un EP?
The Fullbug: Am decis că vrem să lansăm oficial trupa și muzica pe care o compuneam cât mai repede. Un album complet ar fi luat mult timp și am vrut să avem deja ceva lansat înainte de a ne lua acel timp. Am început să compunem și am încercat să nu grăbim totuși procesul nici pentru acesta. După ce am reușit să scriem câteva secțiuni, am ales patru piese pe care am vrut să le împărtășim și pe care le consideram cele mai bune.
Cum s-a legat totul, care este ideea din spatele său?
The Fullbug: Ne cunoșteam din diverse trupe și din scena locală și de-a lungul timpului am devenit buni prieteni, până la a ne împărtăși idei. La un anumit punct am simțit că putem să compunem împreună. Cred că ceea ce a pornit totul este faptul că nu am încercat să definim nimic, nici stilul, nici sunetul, nimic. Am iubit ideile pe care le conturam împreună și aveam încredere că fiecare le va reprezenta cum trebuie. Nu a fost vorba niciodată despre a fi o trupă de rock’n’roll, de aceea avem piese precum Blood Bath și Break Ground pe un singur EP.
Cum l-ați descrie unui nou ascultător?
The Fullbug: Rock! Nu a fost niciodată treaba noastră să definim muzica, dar dacă îți place o chitară puternică și tobe accentuate atunci este pentru tine.
Cum ați defini scena din Tel Aviv?
The Fullbug: Nu este o scenă mare, dar sunt multe trupe bune, cu oameni pasionați când vine vorba de muzică și de a te arunca în neant, indiferent de costuri. Mulți și-au creat un nume și în afara Tel Aviv-ului și ne fac să ne simțim mândri.
Aveți planuri și pentru un album complet?
The Fullbug: Cu siguranță, lucrăm deja la materiale noi și credem că vom intra în studio în 2019. Fiți pe fază.

Why did you choose to release an EP?
The Fullbug: Well, we decided we want to introduce the band and the music as soon as possible. A full length album can take a lot more time and we wanted some music to be released before we take that time. We started writing songs, it‘s a process and we try not to rush it. After we were having our fun trying new parts and sounds, we picked 4 songs that we wanted to share with the world that represents our vision the best.
How did it all come together, what is the idea behind it?
The Fullbug: We all know each other from different bands and the local scene, over the years we became great friends and started sharing ideas. At a certain point it just felt natural and we started writing together. I think the idea behind it and what made it happen is that we didn’t try to define it, not the style, sound and whatever. We just loved the ideas we had together and trusted each other to take it to the right place. It was never about “let’s be a rock’n’roll band”, that’s why you have tracks like Blood Bath and Break Ground in one EP.
How would you describe it to a new listener?
The Fullbug: Rock!
Defining music and putting labels on it was never our thing, but if you‘re into loud guitar riffs and big rock drums you‘re in for a treat.
How would you describe the rock/metal scene in Tel Aviv?
The Fullbug: It‘s not a big scene, but there are a lot of great bands in it with people who are very passionate about making music and getting it out there, no matter the cost.
More than a few have established themselves outside of Israel and it makes the local scene proud.
Do you have plans for a full length material?
The Fullbug: Definitely, we are working on new materials all the time and expect to go in the studio in early 2019 to record our first full length LP. Stay tuned!
