Cu 13 piese în portofoliu, „Glorious Collision” devine oficial cel mai lung material, după o perioadă de încercări pentru trupă, cu atât mai mult din punct de vedere al componenţei. Bazat pe sentimente de deznădejde şi emoţii paralizante, albumul păstrează amprenta trupei, ca de obicei, însă are tendinţa de a deveni o idee prea obositor.
„Leave It Behind Us” porneşte în forţă, indicându-ne că Evergrey tinde să–şi menţină stilul, cu un ritm uşor mai domol şi o forţă ceva mai maturizată. „You” aduce în prim plan şi câteva solo-uri impecabil executate care susţin vocea bântuitoare a vocalului. Spre deosebire de „Torn” pe acest nou material discografic avem parte de suficiente piese temperate cum ar fi „Wrong” sau „Free”. De altfel, ele combină în sine heavy-ul cu o lirică uşor de reţinut, întotdeauna tragic ilustrate de întreg. „Frozen” continuă ideea de pe piesa de debut, opririle clar executate şi sunetul neşlefuit al tobei dându-i un plus de forţă, aşa cum este şi cazul pentru „Restoring the Loss”. Primul intro cu spirit de baladă în adevăratul sens al cuvântului este în timpul single-ului „To Fit the Mold”, pe când pe „Out of Reach” revenim în sfera „greului” unde ne reîntâlnim şi cu vocile suprapuse care formează un cor, de dragul amintirilor.
Atmosfera de semi-baladă de pe „The Phantom Letters” este combătută de simfonica „The Disease…”, una dintre piesele cu cele mai proeminente şi binevenite clape din tot materialul. Un nou cor sinistru debutează „It Comes from Within”, înainte de a ateriza într-o tornadă de energie, aşa cum întâlneam pe albumele precendente, având cel mai mare potenţial de a deveni o preferată a fanilor.
„Free” reprezintă un deschizător de drumuri pentru ce vor deveni câteva piese de pe ultimele materiale discografice, acustica şi clapele împletindu–se într-un mod unic pentru trupă şi este, de altfel, unul din punctele de lumină incluse în totalul „coliziunii glorioase”.
„I’m Drowning Alone” iese din mulţime prin riff-urile grele la care te–ai fi aşteptat, pe când închizătorul „…And the Distance” (disponibil şi în varianta cu voce feminină), revine la obiceiul Evergrey de a-şi finaliza albumele pe un ton de regret şi auto-distrugere.
Deşi se bucură de o producţie minunată şi per total compoziţiile cu greu pot fi învinuite de ceva, albumului îi lipseşte acea doză copleşitoare de întuneric care deborda şi din ansamblu, poezia versurilor şi diversitatea. Cu toate acestea, este un punct de răscruce pentru Evergrey care–şi va lăsa amprenta şi pe viitor şi o ascultare cât se poate de frumoasă.

**English Version**
With 13 tracks in its portofolio, „Glorious Collision” becomes officially the longest material to date, after a long period of trials for the band, regarding its structure mostly. Based on feelings of desperation and crippling emotions, the record stays in tune with Evergrey’s fingerprint, just as usual, but tends to get a tad tedious over time. „Leave It Behind Us” starts powerful indicating that the band wants to stay on the same path, with a slightly more diminished rhythm and a more mature vigor. „You” puts the spotlight on some impeccable executed solos that follow the haunting vocals. Unlike „Torn”, on this album we have enough temperate songs such as „Wrong” or „Free”.
Those also manage to tie down the heavy with easy to remember lyrics, always tragically showcased by the entire ensemble. „Frozen” continues the idea behind the opener, the clean stops and the raw sound of the drums giving it a plus of energy, as it’s the case with „Restoring The Loss” as well. The first intro that hints a ballad happens during „To Fit The Mold”, while during „Out of Reach” we return to the heavy range and the overlapping vocals that form a choir, for old times sake. The atmosphere in the semi-ballad „The Phantom Letters” is pushed back by the symphonic „The Disease…”, one of the songs that benefit from substantial and more than welcomed keyboards. A new sinister choir debuts „It Comes From Within”, just before launching inside a tornado of fury, just as we listened on previous records, having also the most potential of becoming one of the fans favorites.
„Free” represents a roads opener for what some of the songs on the most recent discographic materials have become, the acoustics and the keyboards uniting together in an unique way for the band, and is without doubt one of the lighter points included in the grand total of „glorious collisions”.
„I’m Drowning Alone” stands out from the crowd for its hardcore riffs that you would expect, while the closer „…And the Distance” (also available with female vocals) returns to Evergrey’s habit of ending its records on a tone of regret and self-destruction.
Although „Glorious Collision” has a magnificent production and the pieces on it are hardly to be blamed for anything, the record does lack a small dose of overwhelming darkness that used to devour the instrumentals as well, the poetry in the lyrics and the diversity. Nevertheless, it is a crossroad for Evergrey that will leave its mark in the future and a beautiful listen overall.
